Hi all
so i looked all over on how effective the chickenpox vaccine is after exposure and didn’t find much info so thought i give my experience.
So on a monday i noticed what i thought was an insect bite on my 5 year old son. Next day lots of spots- chickenpox. I have 3 other children. My youngest is 3 and we were due to go on holiday 2 weeks after so i got her the chickenpox vaccine on the Friday. This counts as 5 days after exposure apparently.
My son had the pox quite bad- big blisters and itching like mad.
My daughter got chickenpox exactly 2 weeks later but hers was a mild rash and about 20-30 spots and none blistered. The vaccine had obvs worked and we were able to travel.
my older son - age 11- had one vaccine at a young age and he also got chickenpox but again very very mild
So glad we got the vaccine as it prevented my youngest having bad chickenpox and no need for second dose now as she got it .
