Did DD miss two doses of antibiotics?

So DD (3yo) is currently prescribed Phenoxymethyl Penicillin in liquid form, 125mg with 4 lots of 5ml doses to be taken over 10 days. We've been given 2 bottles, and the info says each bottle has 100ml in it. So that means that with 40 doses we should finish the bottle, right? So we're 5 days in, and DD should have had 20 doses and finished the first bottle today, however there's about 2 doses left in it. She's been with my MIL and at nursery so it hasn't just been me administering it, but at 10am and 4pm I've called to check she's had it and they've said yes. Were they lying, or is slightly more in the bottle? I don't know whether to finish the bottles now when we get to the 10 days as there might be loads left over and I don't want to give her too much! I'll speak to a pharmacist tomorrow but wandering if anyone could answer today, I'm feeling pretty angry as it looks like someone's missed some doses.

If it’s been reconstituted they may be a little bit more in the bottle. I wouldn’t worry if she is getting better

She is getting better, but she potentially missed a dose on the second day of taking them, so surely she'd have lots of bacteria still in her system? It's a dose every six hours, so that means she might have gone from 4am-4pm without a dose for 2 days in a row. Is that okay? I don't know how antibiotics work but messing them up scares me!

She will be fine, please try not to worry.

at my nursery the staff and I have to sign a book for the doses given. Could you ask your nursery to do that if it will help?

She might have missed a dose ot two imo.

When the pharmacist was reconstituting the antibiotic they should have allowed for the powder ie the bottle will say add 97ml of purified water. So the total volume should be 100mL.

As long as she is getting better dont worry about it. It is good you are keeping a close eye on it, and continue to do so. Also a syringe is much more accurate than a spoon to measure the dose. I hope she continues to recover.

I wouldn't fret over two potential missed doses out of 20. Just finish the bottle.

As I am sure you know, make sure she finishes the course and shake the bottle before measuring the dose.

Snap @Hugasauras 😀

It gets mixed up by hand before being given to you so there is always the potential for slightly too much or too little water to go in with the powder
