6yo grey hair and mole on scalp -should I be worried

My 6yo has naturally dark brown hair. Around 4 weeks ago a grey patch of hair appeared on the side of his head.
I took him to the gp who wouldn't even look closely at it, just basically told me these things happen and shoed us out in less than a minute.
Since then the patch has grown and kids at school are now asking him about it. Nobody is being mean but naturally he's starting to get self conscious.
I asked him today to let me look and as I brushed the hair up with my fingers he flinched and shouted that it really hurts.
There's a mole in the grey patch of hair.
I thought it may be a halo nevus but the skin doesn't look white and I can't see anything saying it would hurt.
I've put some images below.
Am I within reason to take him back to the gp tomorrow despite being told last time pretty much I was being ridiculous?

Possible vitiligo

I have no idea what this is but the fact that the mole hurts means I would def go back to the Dr

I’d definitely take him back and ask to see a different GP. Really rubbish that they didn’t even examine him!

Morning. Just to update we've been back to the gp today and seen a different one.
He's diagnoses it as Poliosis but is a bit baffled by the mole. He said the skin surrounding the mole is definitely not white.
We just need to keep an eye on it
