DS7 three bouts of vomiting in a month

Hi, I would appreciate your thoughts. Over the last month my son has been sick on three separate occasions during which he’s vomited a handful of times (on one occasion only once). No other symptoms (e.g temp, aches and pains, diarrhoea) other than a tummy pain. No one else in the family was unwell and in fact, on one occasion, contact for the three days before was been limited to the immediate household. My mind is boggling to what it could be, is he just really unlucky in terms of picking up viruses, a new allergy (no previous issues), something else… I know you can’t tell me but any similar stories or perspectives useful. We will go to the GP.

I meant to say he recovers very quickly when he has been unwell.

Does he go to school? Can you find out if others were ill too? Likely a bad patch of tummy bugs but could be allergies

Yes he goes to school. My immediate thought was viruses but, having several children and therefore some experience to draw upon, I’m not convinced by the nature of the sickness (mild) and timing (it’s just so random, and at the end of a long weekend when we’ve not seen anyone).

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor! But DS1 had bouts of seemingly random vomiting in the weeks leading up to his appendix rupturing. Walk-in centre / 111 dismissed it, luckily his GP sent him for a scan just in case (he was in surgery two days later). Appendicitis can be tricky to spot so just keep an eye out for pain in lower right abdomen, hip or leg.

@MegBusset thank you. i hope your son is better now. Something to ask the GP perhaps.
