Lichen Sclerosus in Kids

Hi after a bit of advice please.
Has anyone's DD made a complete recovery from this condition (with steroids) and has the whiteness / delicate skin gotten better with time? I'm not clear on what the steroids are treating? Is it just the itch or also the skin condition too? DD has no thickened patches. Just overall whiteness with some occasional itchiness and soreness.
