Child tingly pain in right hand

NC as I’m a bit of a worrier and am embarrassed about the random health stuff I post about..

DS (8) was playing a video game yesterday when he mentioned his hand was hurting - he said it started in bed the night before. He describes it as pain and tingling ( hard to decipher from his description if it’s a stabbing pain). He decided to stop playing his video game as it was hurting. It seemed to stop bothering him about an hour later.

He complained about it again on the way to school this morning.

The day it started, he hadn’t had any injury and hadnt been playing on his tablet/video game (I was wondering if it was a sort of RSI).

This might sound stupid but he’s also got a cough that’s been hanging around about a week and is now snotty/a bit chesty (Covid neg). Could it be connected as I know viruses can present in kids in weird ways?? If not, what else could it be? My brain goes into complete OTT overdrive when my kids have weird symptoms…

Just wondered if there were any thoughts on this?

It seems to be coming and going. Had a couple of days where he didn’t mention it. Seems to hurt at bedtime sometimes and he sometimes says it randomly hurts at school. Doesn’t seem to be stopping him doing anything. He says it hurts from his wrist up to his knuckles.

How long does he play games for?

About an hour a day on average

Could be a repetitive strain injury starting. If so needs to be careful as can become chronic.

I wouldn't be worried to much about this and I wouldn't connect it to the cough.
Is it his writing hand?
Could have knocked it without realising and it's hurting now and again.
He'll prob forget about it in two weeks time Smile

Could it be pins and needles?
My daughter had this and she was iron deficient

Most likely RSI from gaming. Nothing to do with the cough.

Thanks all. Yes, it’s his writing hand. Maybe I’ll get him to take a few days off gaming and see if it improves.
