HELP Omeprazole, did it make your little ones worse?

My 3 week old baby has been taking omeprazole since Friday and since then he has been inconsolable, I'm really not over exaggerating when he is awake he cries non stop until he sleeps again and he won't sleep longer than 40 mins if I'm lucky! It's so hard watching him in pain. Has your little ones ever had this reaction before? Is it normal? I really don't know if I should give it to him again!

My little has been on omeprazole from around 3 ish weeks. The only thing that it has caused was a bit more spit up when the dose was too high, that resolved itself when dose was slightly lowered. Could it be colic with your little one?

@SoonToBeMrs91 thanks for your reply! My little boy has CMPA silent reflux and colic so as you can imagine he always has been very unsettled, but since taking omeprazole he has became a lot worse I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or not, but will phone gp in morning😄

My little one had awful colic too. For reflux she got both omeprazole and gaviscon so I sympathise. Have you tried your little one on infacol? It was a life saver for us, helped with her colic.

Omeprazole took a good few weeks to work for us, but when it did it really did! Definitely call dr if concerned, we ended up being admitted to the paeds ward for monitoring my daughter was so unsettled.

It took about two weeks to work for us but has been a game changer alongside infant gaviscon
