My daughters tongue is yellow? So is mine?

First off il start by saying we brush our teeth. I've been feeling unwell recently and am currently trying to get to the bottom of it. One of my symptoms is a yellow/white tongue with a dry feeling in my mouth.

I've just noticed my daughters looks the same. She also has a very very light rash (potentially) on her hands.

She's had foot and mouth before and this doesn't seem similar. Neither of us have ulcers or sore. Help! I'm really panicking

Sorry the photos are horrible.

I get this when I've not eaten enough fibre.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 10/05/2022 18:33

Do you brush it when you brush your teeth?

Chaoslatte · 10/05/2022 18:35

Do you brush your tongue? Some toothbrushes have a tongue cleaner on the back.

We had this with COVID - not with any other illness, was very strange and yucky

We don't brush our tongue but oral health is not neglected. I'm just panicking as I've been feeling rubbish lately. She has a mild rash on her hands too. I've got itchy skin all over 😩

The first thing on google is bad oral hygiene. You have got to brush your tongue when you do your teeth.

freezingmytoesoff · 10/05/2022 19:40

Yes you need to brush your tongue also

I’d see a GP. Are the whites of your eyes yellow? Jaundice can cause itchiness and yellow colouring (though not sure about tongue). Many things can cause jaundice - but it would be good to get it checked out by GP (there has been an increase in jaundice in kids recently, where they needed more treatment - so best to be safe).

Could it be oral thrush?

AskingforaBaskin · 10/05/2022 19:52

Looks like your tounge needs a good scrape. I'd do that first. Do you have a local supermarket or amazon prime? You can get one ASAP and see.

It's very common for your tongue to go like that if you're unwell. I wouldn't worry about it really, should clear in its own time.

Birdie746 · 10/05/2022 20:05

Brush your tongue after you finish brushing your teeth, am and pm.

Have you tested for covid?

One of your other symptoms - itchy skin all over. I got that really badly with covid but never had it before.
