3yo stomach bug - concerned about lack of water intake

DS was sick Sunday evening - and all through the night through Monday late morning. He perked up a bit, but then was sick again Monday evening. At this point he'd not eaten anything for 24hrs and only had minimal water, so the sick was properly yellow stomach acid.

He slept through last night and thought he was on the mend, but has slept pretty much all day. Awake for 5-30min and then falls back to sleep on the sofa. Again, no eating and minimal water. He was sick again this afternoon and had 3 bigs lots of diarrhea.

We called 111 yesterday who advised we take him to childrens a&e - which we did, but it was when he'd perked up a bit so all they said was "he's fine, it's just a bad stomach bug". We then called again when he had the yellow/green sick in the evening, but there was such a backlog that we didn't get a call back till this morning. Again, as he'd not been sick again at this point they said "fine, just keep an eye on him"

I'm concerned that he's not eaten anything for 2 days now. And very minimal amounts of water. I don't want to waste NHS resources, but at what point do I insist he gets seen? I'm worried he needs a drip to actually get some nutrients and water into him.

I am not sure what to advise but solidarity as we are in pretty much the same situation. My DD is just turned 4. Really sick all Saturday night and Sunday, perked up quite a lot yesterday (not eating but drinking) and then really went downhill this morning, lethargic and listless.

We went to walk in this morning and they advised Diarolyte in a syringe (I've flavoured with squash) 15ml every 10 mins which we've been doing, they said if she isn't any better or keeps vomiting fluids to go to A and E.

It's horrible. Such a worry.

It is a bug going round. My 5 year old had it last week. It seems to go and then comes back again a few days later. GP said not eating is fine as they can go weeks without eating food just offer what they want as and when. For drinking little sips and often. Maybe some Diaoralyte in sips. Don't take big gulps as that's when they throw it up again. Just lots of little sips every 10-15 mins. It lasted a week and she was back to eating on Sunday.

Hope they feel better soon.
