MRI showed an abnormality (enlarged right lateral ventricle)

My son is now nearly three and cannot walk, crawl etc. He is also non verbal. Neither of these things hold him back however, he is very smart and social.

Anyways I requested an MRI of his brain as I've always been certain the the potential diagnosis of autism (I have two other asd children) isn't the whole story.

The scan results show he has mild to moderate enlarged lateral right ventricle. More fluid than normal in one of the ventricles of his brain. There was no reason given for this in the results, there was no blockage seen etc. It was his paediatrician that gave me the results but he has an appointment in a couple of weeks with neurology.

I wondered if anyone else has a child with this. Two weeks seems like a long time to wait to find out more?

Haven't been through the same thing - but my son has had a lot of neuro interaction since he was diagnosed with a brain tumour at 3. I can tell you for certain that if it's not an emergency, two weeks is pretty good for seeing the neurologist after a scan. I know how on edge you can feel after a scan, I hope the time passes quickly & the news you hear is good. x
