Child fell and banged back of head

DS was running on a wet surface and slipped and fell back banging their head.
I didn't actually see how hard he hit his head but when I picked him up he was crying and soon stopped after a cuddle.
He says he feels fine but I'm so worried as he's banged his head should I take him to the hospital? He seems fine and is playing as normal.
I have health anxiety and I'm really worried he's hurt his skull or brain or has a bleed or something 😭

If you call 111, they can probably go through any checks you need to make of your child's condition and assess whether he needs medical attention. The back of the head is very sturdy, but there's also no harm in checking with NHS and/or taking him to A&E just to be sure. It doesn't sound like he’s done any real damage though. Maybe a concussion at worst.

To be honest, unless they go very pale, eyes not focussing or seem blank, cry excessively or go massively quiet, can’t move properly or seem floppy etc, I give them an hour and see if they shake it off. Probably some lax parenting from me but if I went to hospital for every head bang my 3 get, I’d be there every day. Hope he’s ok x

How old is he? Generally speaking and I am no way medically trained I wouldn't be too concerned about it my kids were constantly banging their heads one way or another. BUT they are your child and if you would feel happier call 111 but with a child and a head injury they will probably advise you to go in.

He's almost 5. It is a bit harder as we are away abroad on holiday at the moment.
He seems fine and is laughing and being cheeky as normal. I just hate the fact I didn't actually see it happen as he slipped behind a table so I didn't see how he went down or how hard he hit his head.
It is a tiled floor.
