Hello.
I'm feeling a bit at sea with this, and hoping others have more experience or - ideally - some reassuring words that it'll all be OK!
DD is 11, and has recently had pneumonia which presented with some wheeze. No asthma ever before, but we have a slight family history.
She's been better for a couple of weeks now. No wheeze or cough. But she sometimes has a feeling that she can't get a full breath. Now, she often suffers with anxiety, and it's been pointed out that she might be a habitual shallow breather, so this was thought to quite likely be a muscular issue (GP took a history and said it didn't sound much like asthma, but she wasn't sure). But we got a peak flow monitor, and I used it with DD this morning. The reading was below average ("yellow zone") for her height. Don't think the GP will really be interested until I have completed a diary for a week or so, but I'm slightly freaking out. Does this reading mean she is very likely to have asthma? I'm worried I've been overlooking this. Also, if asthma starts with puberty like this (rather than in younger kids), is it always severe? Anyone have any positive experiences to share?
Sorry for slightly angsty post!
TIA
