7 year old holding wee in for most of the day

Hi,

A bit of a strange one, I think.

My 7 year old has always been able to hold her wee for very long periods of time, but she is now holding her wee in for most of the day (i.e. not going until 5pm from the night before!!).
This doesn’t seem to be causing her any problems, she has no UTIs or constipation, but I am wondering if this is something I should be worrying about.

Has anyone else experienced similar?

Yes. Both mine can do this and regularly do. No idea where they get the talent from.

Joking aside I do remind the at key moments, get them to drink more than enough etc but generally it causes so bother.

I'm a bit jealous tbh!

Is she drinking enough fluids?

My eldest does this and I have no idea how. We talk about what colour we should be to make sure she is drinking enough. We also stopped arguing with her about it as some of it was about digging her heels in when we asked her to do things

My ds is 14yr, he has never used school toilets. He's never had a uti, and drinks plenty. I used to beg him to use school toilets but gave up years ago as appears to have no ill effects, wish I could hold my bladder for even a fraction of the time.

So, I see she’s not the only one. I will encourage her to drink a bit more, but I don’t think she’s dehydrated, so I guess it’s just how her body works.
I am also a bit jealous, I wish I could do that, especially in the mornings!
