Chicken pox or hand foot and mouth?

Hi,
On Monday we took our 5mo to the pharmacy and then on the advice of the HV, to the GP. The former said it was hand foot and mouth and the GP felt it was probably chicken pox - but wasn’t entirely sure.
He’s currently coping ok with it or I’d be seeking further medical attention of course, but for now the doctor’s advice was to let it run its course / give calpol when needed.

We haven’t noticed him itching whatsoever. He has had a temp (eg. 38c) at night and there have been more spots appearing, he’s also been a bit grizzly. He has developed some around the mouth and on the tops of the feet / wrists / ankles but I wouldn’t say they’re heavily concentrated around his feet or hands etc.

Has anyone experienced chicken pox in babies without the itching? (Just trying to work out which it actually is as we’ve had conflicting opinions - if I had any concerns about his condition whatsoever I’d obviously be seeking professional medical advice).

My baby has just had chicken pox (albeit very mildly) and didn't itch at all.

Are there spots on the trunk? (Tummy/back). If not I'd think HFM

Does he have it on his torso at all? If just arms legs and mouth id suspect hand foot and mouth.

My nephew had hand foot and mouth over quite a large part of his lower legs, was worse than chicken pox for him.

Thanks all! We ended up in a&e last night on the recommendation of 111 and the doctor there confirmed it was HFM.
