My newborn is 6 days old. He has been pooing every day 3 or 4 times a day like a yellowish colour with seeds. Normal. Today he hasn't pooped at All. Is this ok !?

Breastfed or formula fed? There’s very little waste with breastmilk so they don’t necessarily poo every day.

Just be aware that when they do poo, they poo… Grin

They can go a few days sometimes... just be prepared for the blowout 🤣

If baby seems uncomfortable try rubbing their tummy gently to get things moving. If not, they’re ok

Whilst breastfed babies can poo less often, this change happens at around 6 weeks. A lack of poo in a 6 day old baby should always be followed up with a medical practitioner.

You are still under midwife care, so please call your postnatal ward or community midwife.

Also, put your baby in a brand new babygro, and put yourself in a white dress. Poonami will almost certainly happen while you're on the phone. Babies love to ruin clothes.

It's totally fine, I remember being worried when my LO was afew days old and didn't poo all day, he went to town the next day.
Be prepared with extra baby grows etc incase he does it through the night.

I wouldn't worry too much just yet. We had the exact same thing when DS was born and midwife said they only start looking at option and ways to help him once it's been 4-5 days without poo. Even longer once they reach 6 weeks.
I used to lay DS on his back and bend his knees and move his legs in a circular motion, like when you are riding a bicycle. Gently managed his little belly too. Some days it helped, some days it didn't and the longest he's ever gone was 48 hours. I remember o was so worried so I get why you may be a bit concerned Thanks

Yes. It’s fine. Prepare for an explosion though

My breastfed baby once didn't poop for five days. Tonnes of wees.
But when she did - we both needed a change of clothes.
