High protein in child's urine so worried

DS 4 did a tribe sample that came back with 3+ Protein in it. Doctor didn't seem worried and asked me to repeat the Horne sample tomorrow.
I have googled and am worrying myself sick with worry that it's Nephrotic Syndrome which causes high protein in urine.
Why else would he have high protein?! I'm so worried I am making myself feel sick with googling and trying to find out what it may indicate.
Anyone have any similar experiences please?

The test is very sensitive which does mean sometimes high levels detected on the occasional test even with no underlying problem with the kidneys.

Even if it is nephrotic syndrome, this is relatively straightforward to treat in most cases.

I know uncertainty is scary, hopefully you will get useful explanations from the GP and any other health professionals you see as it goes on.

This happened to me a couple of time when pregnant.

I think both times I had had a shower, washed with soap then did the wee- so wonder if the soap affected it!

My ds had this a few years ago when he was around 8 or 9. Took a few months to go down to a trace of protein and they didn’t test any more. GP wasn’t too concerned and didn’t find out why it had happened.
