How long after tonsil and adanoid removal did your child's throat hurt

Nine days post op with 6 year old. She's still complaining her throat hurts and crying a lot. Taking three loads of paracetamol and three loads of neurofen a day.

She's completely not herself. I expected maybe a week of this but expected her bounce back a bit quicker than this.

How long was your child in pain and/or needing painkillers after the surgery

Not my child, but I had my tonsils out as a young adult and it took at least 2 weeks to feel better. I was shocked to be signed off that long as standard, but I needed it. The worst pain by far was when the scabs fell off about a week-10 days later, I can still remember the absolute agony of it happening on one side and the dread of waiting for it to happen to the other. Worth a call to the ward to see if it’s possible to get stronger painkillers, I was sent home with just paracetamol but was given a high dose of codine a few days later. I have no idea what painkillers they can give a child though, poor love. I hope she feels better soon x

Not my child, but my sister and she was in pain for about a week and it started to ease significantly after that
