Hello just wondered if anyone knows what these could be on my sons neck (he's 2 years old) on his jugular vein ( both sides) I have been to the doctors and we are been referred. Has anyone else's child had these or know what they possibly could be. They are show up if he crys, strains, coughs, shouts, even running around. They are quite prominent, they are soft, pea sized lumps that show when he cryz etc, they are not easily seen when he's calm. Many thanks, Amber.

Yes my daughter has this.

Looks terrifying but it's basically just the way the vein sits close to the surface. It's really common.

I'm surprised the GP has even referred you on without giving you a clue why if it's not that?

Hi thanks for your reply its reassuring :) The Dr said she wasn't too concerned but she wanted another opinion. Also my partners brother unfortunately died of cardiomopathy which can be hereditary so I believe she wanted to check it wasn't linked.

My 5 yr old has these. Not something I've ever worried about (although second guessing myself now youve been referredConfused). Would you mind updating once you've had the referral?

I suspect the referral will be because of the OPs family history and not because it's to be something to be worried about by it's self.

They are really really common.

My 2 year old has these. Will be interested to see if the hospital are concerned at all so please keep us updated.
