Nystagmus in child?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of a child with Nystagmus and what their long term prognosis was like?

My son is 22 month and got referred to opthalmology due to his eye turning inwards 6 month ago, but they noticed his eyes wobble too. He got glasses and today was his review, they just said to continue with glasses and they'll review him again in 3 month but he definitely has nystagmus.

I don't really know much about this, does it have a underlying cause? Will it affect him in the future?
