14 year old DS - knee injury, tendon, osgood schlatter?

Ds suffered a fall at school over 6 weeks ago resulting in what the X-ray apparently showed as an issue with the tendon on the knee and nurse suspected possible ligament injury.

After 6 weeks DS still can’t weight bear, using crutches etc. Consultant mentioned physio exercises and requested a follow up MRI scan, follow up apt to this is the end of July!

At the time of the X-ray the nurse let me take a photo of the X-ray as I wanted to show DH. It was only then that we noticed it looked so similar to Osgood Schlatter disease images that DH mentioned this to the consultant during the apt, consultant wasn’t of the opinion, not 100% but judging by his response it seems he doesn’t think it is, but still wants to look into it further as DS still has fluid around the knee.

DS is doing his exercises (at a push) but I really want him to see a proper physiotherapist who will encourage him and help him to understand that he needs to push through the pain, however, until the MRI results come back I’m a bit wary on doing this.

Anyone else had similar? Initially we were told 4-6 weeks recovery but we’re now into week 8!

I’m worried it’s going on for so long!

I wouid pay private if you can and get a good recommendation of a decent physio.

My son has had feet/ankle pain and I didn't want to wait so we are paying private.

DSis (now 50+) had OS as a teenager. She had her leg in plaster for a couple of months as I remember. And she had an op to remove a as piece of bone.
Her knee still aches if she keeps it bent for too long - she always gets an aisle seat in cinemas, planes etc.

DD had OS. She never broke anything nor had a cast though. It was just a case of painkillers.

Thanks all.

Think we’ll end up paying for a private physio @Remmy123 I just wanted to wait until the MRI results have been discussed but the follow up apt is weeks away yet Sad
