When did your LO grow out of reflux?

My LG is only 4 weeks old and has reflux which is currently making life pretty miserable! GP isn't interested because she's gaining weight (I think the majority of her reflux is silent). Just wondering when your LOs grew out of their reflux? I'm not sure I have it in me to be dealing with this for a year or more Sad

For my ds it wasn't until he started on solids unfortunately (I was sick of the sight of those little packets of infant Gaviscon).

DS1 had silent reflux and it stopped about 6/7 months.
DS2 had really bad reflux and his went to about 13 months and he still occassionally gets it at age 5.

4 weeks is very young to put your little one on medication, but if you're following all the things that help (keeping her upright after feeds etc) and she's miserable, I'd ask for another GP or a referral to a specialist.
I found the cocoonababy really helped my severe reflux baby get some rest, the positioning was great for him.

Ds1 had it until he was nearly 2. No-one took it seriously until he nearly ended up in hospital with dehydration just after his first birthday, then he was put on an anti vomiting medicine until he grew out of it. Ds3 had it until about 8 or 9 months, somewhere around there the vomiting stopped.

My son was about 19 months. Everyone told me it would go by the time he was on solids... Then by 12 months... They were wrong 🙄

Never. On 3 different meds and jej fed.

I pushed and got DS on ranitidine as his silent reflux was awful.

He became like a totally different baby.

By the time he weaned at 6 months it was gone (at which point he suffered terrible constipation 🙄)

On ranitidine and omeprazole then began weaning slowly at 4 months under doctor supervision. Reflux (silent) got gradually better bit by bit. Once on solids properly at about 6/7 months and spending more time vertical, less screaming during feeds and sleeping improved between about 9-12 months.

Dc never lost weight but was clearly suffering during and after every feed and whenever they were put down horizontally. Spent the first 3 or 4 months only ever sleeping for short periods of time usually on me or my dh or in the car (but would always wake when car stopped!). I don't know how we survived!

My daughter improved just before she was one, and started gaining weight (was born on a high centile then wandered down below 25th centile for months as an infant, before heading back to the 90th ... we're all tall). We never had treatment - I asked and was always discouraged from trying it. (though, when her brother was born they did say they'd treat if he was the same)

I was horrified when she said something at the age of about 11 that indicated she was accustomed to regular acid reflux as normal. "But it happens much less now mummy". It hasn't been an issue through her teens but I have tried to make sure she knows that if she gets a lot again she needs to talk to a GP about it!

By the way, carrot was a most unfortunate choice of first weaning vegetable. I gave up on the carpets ...

Can't remember the exact age but I know he was walking - he walked at 11 months.
