UTI 8 week old hospital stay

Hi all,
Really hoping someone has some similar experience. My 8 week old had a temperature of 39 degrees yesterday morning and was advised by 111 to go to A&E. They'd discovered white blood cells in her urine and performed a lumbar puncture to investigate other bits. We're awaiting the blood cultures which should be sometime tomorrow. She's been given antibiotics through a drip yesterday and due some more tomorrow at around 3pm. They said that all being well with her blood culture etc then it may be ok to take her home but she may need to stay in if blood tests aren't back yet and if she's not responding greatly to given antibiotics. Do you know if I'd be able to take her home and bring her back just for the antibiotics daily? I'm really struggling for childcare with my toddler. Thank you x

My toddler ended up in hospital for a throat infection 12 months ago. The antibiotics are intravenous, I had 2 nights in hospital with her. You may be able to ask for liquid antibiotics because of your older child and the Covid situation. Do you have any other childcare options for your older DC? Our older sibling was school age which made it easier for daytimes, with dad doing the school pick ups.
