Thyroglossal duct cyst - any experience of this anyone?

DS noticed a lump on his neck last week. GP thinks it’s a thyroglossal duct cyst.

Blood tests have been done, he’s been referred to paediatric ENT and has an appt for an ultrasound scan this week. It’s all happening very quickly which is reassuring but also quite worrying.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

My eldest had one when he was much younger.
Whilst waiting for our referral his got infected - needed antibiotics to bring down the swelling.
He had it removed under general anaesthetic, he still has the scar but you don't notice it unless he points it out.

He had the scan yesterday morning and they don’t think this is what he has after all!
