Hi all, my 4yon had a verruca, I out the well known gel on it, and within a day it went white and raised up (see picture). I dont want to pick it off but it looks awkward and would bleed alot if she snagged it so I want to leave it, but on the other hand, I don't want to leave it alone if it is dangerous like this? I'm not sure what to do??
Any advice?? Thanks in advance!

Honestly I'd just plaster it and check in a couple days, have you maybe got the healthy skin around it. Buy the freeze off stuff next time, bazooka etc is such a long treatment. We used the boots freeze stuff on two dc and it was gone within a week or two.

Urgh wait the allotted gap time and pop some gel in under the top?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 30/01/2021 21:19

That looks sore. Was this the first application?

Have you tried soaking it in the bath, see if that settles it.

We used the gel and it inflamed the area around the verruca.

In the end we used apple cider vinegar and that got rid of it.

@TheCanyon ooh I didn't know that existed, I will do thanks!

@RandomMess I'll try that, its gross isnt it?!

@DobbyTheHouseElk this was after one treatment! We have put her in the bath but it didn't really do much. I'll gove her a good soak tomorrow. I'll try ACV too, thanks :)

Yep, cover it with a corn plaster and then with medical tape. Mine did this. Every time the gel stuff fell off I replaced it and did another corn plaster and tape.

It finally disappeared!

Helllibelli36 · 30/01/2021 21:25

@Chatterpie that's helpful thanks! I was worried I'd permanently affected her feet, and as its between the toe and foot it was sensitive. I'll do that, thanks:)

That looks like the skin expelling the verrucca.
I would give them a long soak in the bath to soften the skin and then see if I could pull it out of the skin.
My ds had something v similar and I pulled it out. It was like a hard pebble of skin and it left a hole in his foot which bled a lot. But it was the end of the verrucca.

hedgehoglurker · 30/01/2021 21:27

Put a plaster or tape on it to keep it in place so it doesn't catch and tear off. I wouldn't soak it (apart from regular bath/ shower), just let it dry out.

TheCanyon · 30/01/2021 21:27

If you get the freeze one check it's ok for dc, theres only a couple that are.

The gels harder on wee kiddies as you're meant to file it down Envy NOT envy!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 30/01/2021 21:30

The ACV has worked twice for us,

My method is to soak a cotton pad in ACV and tape it to the verruca overnight.

Leave free in the day. Then each night file the black bits off the verruca. The ACV makes it dry and black. Then reapply the cotton wool soaked in ACV.

Takes a week or so and it’s gone.

Whether you use acv or more verruca gel definitely cover with a corn plaster and a plaster or tape over that. It protects it from getting knocked or pulled which is painful, and also stops the gel rubbing off on your socks.

They look totally gross when they're dying but it's so worth it!

Apple cider didn't work for my D'S, it just made him sore. I saw another mumsnet thread about painting over it with nail polish every night to starve the verucca of oxygen. After a few nights it fell off!
