When to worry about toddler being off their food?

DS is 20 months and was previously an ok eater. It was always hard actually getting him to sit still and eat but he ate a wide variety of foods. He’s on day 4 of antibiotics as he has an ear and throat infection and he’s been very poorly so understandably hasn’t really eaten much for the last few days, but has been drinking plenty of water and squash. He’s also been off his milk. He seems better in himself other than being a bit tired but he’s still not eating. He’s had one weetabix this morning and has refused everything else since other than drinks. He actually went off his food a week before he became poorly, so it’s now been 12 days since he’s been eating properly, each day he’s only had the odd spoonfuls of food here and there.
When does this become a worry? I’m anxious he won’t go back to being a good eater like he was before. Is it normal for him to be off his food for this long?

In our experience it can take a good week or so to get back to eating, especially with a throat infection. It’s always the last thing to go back to normal with my DD (we have had about 18 bouts of tonsillitis and associated antibiotics) I presume they just don’t quite get their appetite back quickly after illness and I also suspect the antibiotics cause reduced appetite/sore tummy too.
I always used to worry she would never go back to eating normally but she did when she was ready, and then it’s like I can’t stop her for a few days!! If I were you I’d make sure the fridge is well stocked for when that appetite comes back and you’re eaten out of house and home! 💖
Hope your LO is back to normal soon, I know how worrying it can be I really do xx
