Heavy Schoolbags. Does anyone use a trolleybag?

Dd is in year 8 and walks to school but her bag is just so heavy. With Covid they are not using their lockers so having to carry this load around all day as well. When I suggested a trolleybag she wrinkled her nose and said that nobody uses one. Does anyone's son or daughter use a trolleybag for school and if so can I ask which one? Thank you.

No teenager would use a trolley bag I'm afraid.

A trolley bag?

dementedpixie · 30/11/2020 11:36

No teenager would be seen dead using a trolley bag

Wankerchief · 30/11/2020 11:36

Social suicide.
Mine would rather drag the world heaviest bag on bloodied stumps than a trolley bag

Is the stuff necessary ever day?

Can you help her go through the stuff and reduce it? Maybe keep the work in bigger folders at home and just take work from that week in smaller plastic/paper wallet?

Remove all extra stuff

Agree it's social suicide. Get them a really comfy backpack with padded straps.

I'm laughing out loud at the thought of a teenager rolling a trolleybag to school Grin

Could start a new trend , then again probably not

DishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 30/11/2020 11:45

Do not do this to your poor child!

One girl at my school had one and they were ridculed pretty much daily. Its complete social suicide

ZarkingBell · 30/11/2020 11:48

nooooooo

Spied · 30/11/2020 11:51

I've never seen anyone under 50 with a trolley bag.

greymalkin71 · 30/11/2020 11:51

I wouldn't get them a trolley bag but I completely get where you're coming from. My DD (yr7) is taking a ton weight to school every day, far in excess of the recommended body weight:bag weight ratio. And she goes through it every day taking out unnecessary stuff.

No teenager would be seen dead with a trolley bag. Seriously??

I’m a secondary school teacher. Unless she’s got the hide of a rhino and doesn’t mind the whole school knowing her as the girl with the trolly, my advice is don’t do it.

No no no!

When I was at high school it wasn't the norm to have a locker, they were only used for the people that had mopeds and would put their helmets in them.

Everyone else just used their timetable to put the correct books in their bag each day, rather than taking everything to school every day
