Basically I’m just looking for a bit of reassurance. For the last few months my just turned 3 year old (August) has been complaining his legs are sore and now has gotten to the stage at the park etc he has to sit down mid play as he says they are sore. Today he spiked a temperature, went completely off his food, was very very lethargic and kept complaining about his legs and knees being sore saying ‘mummy I can’t run fast anymore’ .... me being a paranoid mum googled symptoms and things came up like growing pains etc which would be the obvious answer but also the dreaded answer came up regarding leukemia. And I don’t want to be one of these mum that just jumps the gun kinda thing and is overly paranoid but obviously as a mum you do worry. Not to mention the fact that a girl I know, her daughter had similar symptoms and is currently going through chemo.
We phoned out of hours and explained the situation and they have referred him for blood tests. I am so so scared and worried I can’t sleep and can’t stop crying I am just thinking the worst. Basically I’m just looking to see if anyone’s little ones have had anything similar and it’s been nothing to worry about 😫😫 sorry for the long post!

DD started around the same age with sore legs, can't say she had temperatures along with it.
We were referred to the hospital, they did bloods and xrays, the main thing that showed was low vit D which can cause pain.
She also had a tendency to toe walk which put strain on the muscles.
Since using a multivit that had the right amount of D (a lot of them don't) she's been much better.

Viral infections can also cause joint pain which would cause the temp too.

Hope the tests come back with a simple and easy to resolve explanation.

I would go to the GP. My daughter get leg pain. We had bloods an x-ray and an MRI. All fine and I don’t have to worry about it. But better to be safe. Good luck

Low vitamin d can cause joint and muscle pain. Try some supplements - the drops are easy to put into a drink or something.

My now 6yo has had regular sore legs and usually points to his knee if I ask him about it. It is usually during the night and calpol makes it better.

His default reason for not doing things is "my legs are tired" so it's become a blanket statement to most unpopular requests.

I've not been to doctors about it cos it seems so likely to be growing pains. I feel like a can visibly see him being taller in a couple of days.

We are all the same, assuming the worst when logic dictates it will be something incredibly common and harmless. Try not to worry x
