Post Circumcision 6y old DS unable to tolerate any clothing

My DS had a circumcision for medical reasons 4 days ago age 6. He is unable to tolerate any kind of cloth touching it whatsoever and has spent the days & nights since surgery naked from the waist down. I'm concerned as he is due to return to school in 10 days time and I can't see that being a possibility at all. His glands are scabbing & very sore, i think because the foreskin was still partly attached there in places. The surgeon advised just make him wear pjs or underpants but it is causing SO much pain and upset. Any advice or similar experiences?
Should add we are alternating calpol and ibruprofen for pain, and he is fine with going to the toilet and baths. We also apply the antibiotic ointment daily as advised.

Sounds like you are doing the right things, ask your GP for advice, he might have an infection?

My friend's DS was the same. It took a week before he would tolerate pants and actually, he preferred really tight ones at first as there was less friction I think.

I'd perhaps give it another couple of days. There might also be a psychological element to it so gently gently.

Maybe tighter underwear might help then

I agree with the tight underwear plan - my DS had the same op at 14 and I was astounded at the amount of pain / discomfort he was in. He is hardly ever ill and pretty stoic but a pack of briefs sorted him out after a few days. He said they just kept everything in place. And has never worn them since!

I would call the surgeon’s office back before the weekend and explain that what they advised is actually too painful, see what they say.

Thank you - that is actually reassuring about it taking a week. I do feel that the advice we were given about him being lots better after 3-4 days is totally unrealistic!

Thank you I have just booked a call with the GP this afternoon. I hope they can help put my mind at ease! I managed to get hold of the surgeon this week and he wasn't kind. Made me feel like I was wasting his time!

Thank you, I will try and get him into some briefs! I've managed to get him into one of his dad's t-shirts this morning, so some progress, if small xx
