Hi, DD has had 38.5 degree fever since last night and it goes down after giving calpol, but comes back 4-5 hours later. Apart from the raised temperature, she is generally well ( May be a little bit tired). She doesn’t have any other symptoms. As we are working from home, didn’t go out for the last 2 weeks. So I think it’s not CV. How long does a fever of this temperature range last ? Is it ok to continue to give calpol or should we take her to GP.?

I remember raging fevers of 40 degrees in my kids when they were young. It’s terrifying. I used to indeed give calpol but it would sometimes not even bring it down until the next does in which case I would double up when desperate with ibuprofen. And then it’s a waiting game. I feel for you though. It’s terrifying and one time I even went to a and e :-(. Sending Flowers

Get a covid test even if you are sure it isn't covid.

If you are worried about her take her to ED or call the GP.
