My 1yo has what I think is excema on his back. It's really quite dry and a bit bumpy. It doesn't seem to trouble him, but has been been getting more noticeable of late.
Obviously really difficult to see GP or HV face to face, and it's not easy to see on photos.
Pharmacist is not able to advise on small dc.
Can I just buy some cream and trial it, or should I really be pushing for a GP appointment (I'm reluctant to as I'm sure they'll just suggest an emollient anyway).
Thanks in advance.

Start by trying an emollient, it's only moisturiser so I don't believe it can do any harm. Aveeno or oilatum are the ones we were recommended. You can also buy HC45 over the counter which is a mild steroid cream. My son was using that and stronger creams at the same age (but obviously please don't take my advice as gospel, check guidance on labels etc, I'm not medically trained in any way, just telling you my experience!).

They can prescribe stronger creams if needed, when you do get an appointment.
