Hello

I have decided against the 6 in 1 vaccine and I am looking for where I can get the whooping cough vaccine privately? Any advice appreciated!

It's not manufactured singly.

But the quadrivalent (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio) is available - most travel clinics and private doctors can administer.

I don't think a standalone formulation exists. What are the specific concerns you have?

underneaththeash · 03/09/2020 19:52

No and you need to vaccinate as soon as possible.
An anti-vaccine aquantaine of mine now has a daughter with a moderate learning disability due to contracting whooping cough in infancy.
She is no longer anti-vaccine.

Thanks ladies. I have heard stories about babies regressing after having their vaccines. I know they are important but I'm concerned about overwhelming his little body with a 6 in 1. The patient info leaflet says if you are allergic dont have the vaccine but how are you meant yo know until you've had it? Also uk has vaccine damage payout which has paid out so clearly some children have been vaccine damaged. It just scares me too much.

Your baby is far more likely to be damaged by having missed or delayed vaccinations than by the vaccines themselves.

Babies' immune systems are built to cope with multiple challenges at the same time. Everyone 's immune system has to fight off bugs constantly, they don't take it in turns to infect us.

The six attenuated pathogens contained in the vaccination will only be a small proportion of those your child comes across that day. They're all part of building a healthy immune system.

Whooping cough vaccine is really important - 14 babies in UK, too young to be immunised, died in 201

This is not some sort of distant risk - it really does happen here, and even if not fatal it's a miserable (and long lasting) disease to have.

Get the vaccine

I used to be a little worried about vaccines but my GP said if you run your hand on a bannister or touch a door knob and then rub your eye you're introducing tens of different bacteria and viruses into your body. Your body (and baby's) can handle it. Don't worry about the number of bugs the vaccine targets, your baby can handle 6 bugs (and more).

My nephew suffers lifelong deafness having had measles as a baby (parents too worried to vaccinate, they cannot forgive themselves now).

Do more positive research, look at the pro vaccine websites, articles, journals etc rather than seeking confirmation bias.

Ginfordinner · 03/09/2020 20:21

Please stop believeing the conspiracy theories from the anti vaxxers, and talk to someone who is medically qualified to advise you.

I have crap eyesight and hearing due to childhood measles.

gingerandsmall · 03/09/2020 20:22

Try doing your 'research' on a site like this pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ instead. You may find some rather different results.

My children and husband all had whooping cough last year. There is a reason it is called the 100 day cough. I have never seen any of them so ill and they are all healthy robust children who were vaccinated in infancy. Seriously you are crazy not to do this. Babies die from whooping cough. Their lungs are not strong enough to cope with it. Please don't be one of those people who think you're gojng to beat childhood disease with organic fruit and veg. Herd immunity saves lives.

@Josiejones29193 I know this is an old post... but I am having similar concerns to you, and just wondered if you went ahead with the vaccinations or not? X
