My dd is 15 and has been having symptoms for 2+ years including bloating, cramps, diarrhea and upper abdominal pain. No particular food seems to be a trigger and the symptoms are intermittent, but with definite flare ups. We have had several GP appointments, she has had a full blood screen and apart from her eosinophil count being marginally but not worryingly raised, nothing else has shown so she has been diagnosed with IBS.
Approx 5 years ago she had threadworms which cleared up quickly. 2 weeks ago she complained of similar symptoms and sure enough has threadworms again. . We have treated them and it has settled now, but I am wondering whether she may have chronic infection which may be causing the other symptoms. She hadn't been anywhere to pick up worms during lockdown and none of the rest of the family have had it, so I can only think it is a flare up. Does this sound likely? I'd be really interested to hear other experiences. I am hoping to get a telephone consultation with her GP tomorrow to discuss it, but would like to be prepared.
Thanks in advance.
