10 month old only having 12oz milk a day

Is this okay? She's suddenly dropped her milk feeds and is only interested in food. I know they're supposed to have at least 600ml (21oz) in 24 hours. Well she isn't. Anyone else in the same boat?

Does she drink water or juice with her meals?
Does she have "liquid" meals and snacks like cereal with milk and melon?

My nearly 12 month old was the same (from 10 months old). She eats like a horse though and has water with all meals and snacks. I also make sure to include dairy in her diet. She's now on cow's milk and only 8oz a day. She just wants food!

@PickUpAPickUpAPenguin

Hi,
She has baby porridge or weetabix for breakfast. Porridge is add water it an Aptimal porridge. Weetabix I add whole milk but thinking perhaps to now add Aptimal.

She has water with her meal + it's available all day in hot weather.

@THNG5 ah okay - glad not just mine, ha! Yes she loves food. I'll make sure she has babybels and yoghurts each day then. I wonder if she will need a vitamin d supplement

My nine month old is the same. Was having a 7oz bottle in the morning, evening and through the night. Refuses any attempt to offer milk in the afternoon. Then he suddenly decided to sleep through so he’s only having 14oz a day now. The health visitor said he should be having 20oz a day but he just won’t drink that anymore. He does have porridge with milk and yoghurts and cheese so hopefully that’s enough. He’s never refused any kind of food I’ve put in front of him!

THNG5 · 19/05/2020 18:50

@zoidforth I give a multivitamin now we've switched to cow's milk.

zoidforth · 19/05/2020 18:57

@StarsOnAMat

Same as mine - doesn't refuse any food! Well, that's all we can do then if they are refusing to drink it. Only a couple of months and they only need one bottle anyway!

@THNG5 I shall do the same. Can't hurt!

If he's having less than 500ml of formula then he needs a multivitamin. The nhs website will tell you which vitamins they need, but we use abidec because you only have to get a fraction of a ml into them 👍

zoidforth · 19/05/2020 20:06

@Spam88 thanks - I'll check it out

Okay so it says all babies getting under 500ml need daily vitamins for a, c and d but NOT if they have over 500ml. Sometimes she does Grin so would I just give it to her at the end of day where she hasn't?

My son never drank any milk (and I mean never - he was iv fed, then tube fed then straight onto solids). He only had solids from 10 months, he wouldn’t take vitamins or calcium. His blood tests were fine. Balanced diet with lots of green veg helped
