SLT discharge for lack of contact

I missed a call on Tuesday last week from the SLT. It was just before their office closed and so I couldn't call them back that day. On Wednesday circumstances meant I was unable to respond. On Thursday morning they called again whilst I was in a meeting. I returned the call and left a message within 30 minutes but they didn't respond. I have called and left messages on three occasions since without any response.

Today I received a letter, dated after I left my first message, to say that DC1 had been discharged from the service due to my lack of response and in accordance with their policy.

Am I wrong to think that a 42 hour window is insufficient for this? Would it be reasonable to request a copy of their policy (assuming they ever answer my calls)? Has this happened to anyone else? What can I do? We've tried so hard to get help, the last year has been really really hard, and I'm caught between anger and despair at this letter.

Write to them detailing your timeline. And complain. This is appalling.
God I detest salt.

I’m sure if you phone again and speak to them, they’ll reinstate your child. We would in our dept. So many families don’t engage and/or fail to turn up to appointments and SLT depts are so massively overwhelmed. I think we rely on families and schools to engage with the service because therapy in isolation is not enough, it needs to be followed up in everyday situations to be effective.
I’d recommend phoning again and explaining. It would be very unusual for them not to reinstate
Xx
