Frequent nausea in preteen girl?

My 12 yr old daughter has always had a sensitive tummy when nervous or excited or if she has a cold - but seldom actually vomits. She has been occasionally waking up at 5 or 6 in the morning for a few days in a row feeling really sick. It usually passes the worst by 9/ 10am after some toast, but is a bit off for the rest of the day and sometimes looks pale. It happened at her friend's house today when she sat down to eat tea and she felt hot too so went outside and soon stopped feeling sick and hot and has been fine since.
It happens every few weeks now, but was about once every 6 weeks in the autumn. I don't think she is unhappy at home or school , but I realise I could be wrong. But assuming it's not emotional as I'm trying to rule things out, has anyone experienced anything similar? I'm wondering if it could be hormonal.
I do have a gps appt in half term, but am curious to see if anyone else's daughter has had similar.
