Nasty Rash on toddler - pic

Hello,
Any ideas on what may be the cause of this rash on my toddler? It doesn't bother him at all- not itchy and no fever or other symptoms, he's his usual mad self. But it's all over his trunk, back and legs, not so much his arms. He's had it for approx 3 days. Thought it had cleared up but it looks worse now.

Deffo not a change in food/detergent/nappies etc and he's not at nursery yet.

Only two things I can correlate are: his bedding probably needed changing and he had antibiotics a week and a half ago for impetigo so could be a viral rash?

Obvs will also get him down to the pharmacist so they can have a look too.

My DD had a similar looking rash before Christmas; doctors suggested post-viral rash as she'd been ill the the week before it appeared.

Well worth seeing your pharmacist first, then GP if they can't help.

Dont take him into a busy pharmacy without ringing ahead first. It could be something contiguous.

My daughter’s hand foot and mouth started like this. Are there any spots on the palms on hands or soles of the feet?

Thanks everyone and good tip about the pharmacist @Selfsettling3, will do that.

No spots on his palms or soles @Esiotrot87 (great username!) so don't think it's HF&M but it could always evolve I suppose. I have a newborn so really don't want DS catching anything nasty that might spread!

I guess the good thing is that he's not bothered by it at all (and he would definitely let us know if it did!!) and no other poorly symptoms so hoping it's just viral. And he's had it for a while and, whilst it looks worse, it not made him worse iyswim.

Scarlet Fever? I would get to GP.

Notthissh1tagain · 03/01/2020 12:58

Ps my DS has had it without being particularly poorly

Pharmacist wasn't much help annoyingly but have a GP appt for Tuesday.
It's getting worse (see pic) but DS still isn't bothered by it. No temp or other symptoms. Can't work out how worried to be!

I would say it's a viral rash. It can last up to a couple of weeks after being ill. I've seen a lot of this working in a nursery. As it's not bothering him and theres no temp I wouldn't be too worried if it were me but a trip to GP cant do any harm to set your mind at ease
