Hand foot & mouth - joint pain weeks later?

Hi, both my children have had severe hand foot and mouth.

My 3yr old daughter got it 20th Oct, my son got it 25th Oct, now being 27th Nov some 5 weeks later my daughter has had bad pain in the top of her leg this evening.

My son who is 5 yrs old, got bad pain in his left leg a week and a half ago which lasted over a week on and off.
Some of those days his pain was acute and I was having to carry him around. Nurofen being given the whole time.
For my son we saw doctors and hospital, blood test. Blood test came back normal.
He's had an X-ray but we do not have the results for that yet.

Now tonight my daughter is suffering with the same pain, bizarrely in the same leg and area!
We can only put it down to HFM disease. But wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar? There is nothing I have found linking these symptoms weeks later. Only at the time of feeling ill with the virus.

There is a thing called irritable hips syndrome which is where the lining of joints becomes inflamed following a virus. My dd had it once as a toddler- she was in agony, couldn’t weight bear and went to a&e etc. They said fairly common in youngsters. Thankfully short and sharp for us and she was better 2 days later but some children have to be kept in hospital purely to manage the pain.

My DD has irritable hip after having HFM last year. It went on for a few weeks and the GP just said to control the pain with calpol.
