Nits. Nitty gritty and Hedrin, instead of nitty gritty and conditione?

Is there any reason why I shouldn't use Hedrin instead of conditioner when checking for nits? Confused

It's far easier to untangle the hair with Hedrin and I can see what's on the comb.

i think the nits treatment stuff (like hedrin) dries out the hair

It doesn't seem to. I've been leaving it on for an hour or two Blush. The packet says minimum 15 mins.
