Nits. Nitty gritty and Hedrin, instead of nitty gritty and conditione?

Is there any reason why I shouldn't use Hedrin instead of conditioner when checking for nits?

It's far easier to untangle the hair with Hedrin and I can see what's on the comb.

i think the nits treatment stuff (like hedrin) dries out the hair

It doesn't seem to. I've been leaving it on for an hour or two . The packet says minimum 15 mins.
