8 year old with a tongue tie - any experience?

8 year old has a tongue tie. It was snipped as a baby, but as it was quite severe (his tongue couldn’t go out beyond his gum line) he still has quite limited movement, it hurts sometimes and he struggles to brush his bottom front teeth.

Does anyone have any experience of them being snipped as older children?
What could be done?

Yes, mine had his lasered by a dentist just before he turned 8.

He had a lot of problems relating to his tongue tie and associated high palate. Snoring/apnoea/ENT problems, orthodontic problems/reflux like symptoms etc etc. Basically it affected his ability to breathe, eat and sleep which are the basics for good health. He is 14 now and all his problems were resolved by releasing his tongue tie and orthodontic to expand his palate.

Unfortunately, HCPs are not generally clued up on this stuff. You need to seek out someone who taken a specialist interest. And remember there may be a posterior tie lurking behind the one you can see.
