8 year old with slightly swollen, tender "boob"

Hi,
DD who is 8 years old has been complaining of a sore boob the last couple of days, today more so. I had a look and it is slightly raised, red and the nipple is every so slightly protruding. Had a gentle touch and you can definitely feel some sort of pea sized lump or something behind it.

Nothing at all in the right boob.

I'm not overly concerned, and will keep an eye on it over next day or so.

Just wondering if any of you wonderful people have come across anything like this that would shed some light? X

It sounds like she's beginning to develop OP. That's usually how it starts. But if you're worried, see the GP/

Yes, sounds like the beginning of puberty. It can be as early as 8 in girls. Her chest may be very tender/sore for a while.

Thank you both - appreciated x

I remember this happening to my dd a couple of years ago (now 12) and was worried especially as only in one. But GP friend reassured me it’s very common and normal part of puberty (does not mean she’s suddenly going to start growing hair and periods start btw! - it’s the very early stages)

I’d just advise posters to be careful they don’t overshare intimate details of their daughters personal experiences on this thread.

Something doesn’t sit quite right with me, so I’m reporting
