Giant chicken pock on end of nose. Scar inevitable?

My son has a huge, angry (not infected yet) chicken pock right on the tip of his nose. He also has a few other giant, angry ones on his cheek. He's 7. I'm looking for experiences of kids who had very large, angry chicken pox that didn't leave scars? I don't expect him to scratch or pick. Especially I would love to hear about experiences on tip of nose or other face locations? I do realise that, in the grand scheme of things, he's healthy and that scars aren't the biggest deal in the world but I really would like to know if all big pox like this leave scars. I myself have scars on my face (skin cancer) that don't even really bother me so I do have perspective. However, I just need to prepare myself for the pitted/ chunk missing out of end of nose in particular or whether to hold out hope. Many thanks.

It’s just down to skin type I think, how have previous cuts been? Luckily dd has my skin type, despite huge infected c pox she was in hospital for the scars all went.

I would do some gentle oatmeal washes, oatmeal is both soothing and healing. Worth a try!

I had one on the end of my nose (didn't have the pox until my 20s) and there was no scarring, and I do tend to be left with a scar after cuts etc.

Son had huge pocks all over face- the only one that left a scar was the one where the scab got knocked off before it was ready.

My son had a massive one on the side of his nose when he was 6. No scar, hopefully he will be fine.

Wow. Thanks for all the supportive replies! I shall remain hopeful then! Grin

My DD had huge chickenpox spots on her face and yes, a couple of them scarred. It's certainly not inevitable though.

However the scars are small and insignificant really - it's not the end of the world.
