Skin tag in baby's mouth for months

For some reason I've only just begun to be worried about this. I noticed that DS, now 7.5 months, had a skin tag/flap thing hanging down from his upper right gum since he was about 6/7 weeks old. It's still there but seems a little bigger now. It's definitely not related to teething as he has no teeth yet, and only teething bumps appearing for his bottom & top incisors.

I've now managed to worry myself about this hugely, does anyone know what it could be? It is flesh coloured and soft, doesn't appear to cause him any pain - he is always an enthusiastic eater.

I'm taking him to the GP on Friday anyway but would appreciate any ideas before then!
