10 year old loss of appetite

My daughter is 10, she usually has a very healthy appetite. She's a pescatarian by choice since the age of 6, usually eats big portions but also very active (captain of football team, in all the school teams and does musical theatre once a week) however, the last couple of weeks seems to be barely eating anything. She hardly touches breakfast and brings home most of her packed lunch from school but is eating dinner, although I would say 50% of what she used to.

Should I be concerned? She says she's just not feeling very hungry. She's had a mild cold the last few days and a week or so ago was complaining of a sharp pain in her left side that would come and go but that seems to have gone away now. Any ideas? I'm going to make a GP appointment anyway but wondered if anyone had any experience of this in the meantime?

Thank you

Can you order in a treat dinner that you know she likes (without any fuss made) and see her reaction on eating it? I may be jumping to huge conclusions as I was a very light eater naturally as a child and teen and could easily skip meals for weeks on end for no reason. But would be good to suss her reaction and emotions on a takeaway / pancakes ice cream treat to see if it's any underlying food anxiety / weight issue?

DD is 10 and usually has a huge appetite but every few months goes through phases of not eating as much for a week or so. I put it down to hormones as he's otherwise well.

@BarryMcguigan excellent suggestion! I will do that this weekend. It's just the sudden turn around really that's concerning. Maybe she's just finally stopped growing. I will see how this weekend goes and get her checked out with the GP if it's still the same. Thank you

You're welcome:) I'm sure she will put away lots of pizza / ice cream etc and you know she's probably leaving her cheese sandwich packed lunch out of boredom :)

Sounds like me before I started my first period.
