Viral Meningitis, Encephalitis and Septic Shock - 5 weeks old

Long story short, my baby had the week from hell last week, and we were told he had the above.

We've been told developmental delays are likely, and he'll need regular reviews. This is obviously a waiting game with him being just weeks old.

I'm just looking to see if anyone has any experience of this in babies, and if or how they were affected?

As a side note the viral meningitis is called Parechovirus, which we've been told is very rare. Our local hospital has never heard of it.

No experience of that, but DS was critical at birth and very poorly at 19 months, ongoing medical issues at 4 so I just wanted to send you these FlowersFlowers because I know it's shit, and a massive hug xx
