Is this a virus? Croup like symptoms and vomiting through the early hours.

Looking to see if anyone has experienced anything similar with their little one.

DS started with croup like symptoms 3 days ago. Took him to the doctors and the GP was unsure of what ds has as he was displaying all the symptoms of croup but the noise was coming from his throat and not his chest. He was prescribed steroids for 3 days. Started taking these and that evening projectile vomited twice through the night. This happened the night after too so myself and my partner decided to stop giving these as he was vomiting not long after taking the medication.

This evening he has vomited again (no medication this evening). He’s also had extreme diarrhea during this time and won’t eat anything. He’ll only have milk and water. The vomiting and the coughing do not seem to be connected, as in the vomiting does not follow the coughing. It’s completey random.

He has bouts where he is inconsolable and all he wants to do all day is sit with me on the sofa.

We have a doctors appt at 12.30am (I know!) so hopefully will get to the bottom of this.

Does this sound like a virus? Sorry if I am being oblivious to normal childhood illnesses but this is my first child and it’s just so distressing seeing him so upset.

Tia
