I've searched online for some answers but I can't find any! My 22 month old son's penis has ballooned when he pees and has done since he was a few months old. HV and DH tells me its normal. But I have also noticed that sometimes it doesn't balloon when peeing but retract in, like the whole penis. Then everything is back to normal after. It seems 'normal' sized in comparison to other boys I've seen so i don't think its a buried penis, at least not all the time? Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? lol He's not in pain but I'm concerned that the pee is just going to go everywhere when it comes to potty training? TIA x

This is called phimosis and it is due to the foreskin being too tight to retract and therefore urine makes it ballooned .
Because your son is now 22 months, I would talk to the GP about it. There are cream you can try to put on the tip of the penis or later one a small surgery.

My little boys did this too. I took him to see the go about it a handful of times. He had a circumcision just shy of his 5th birthday.

Our ds had this, but he was younger, the GP advised to gently massage the foreskin back a little. If this had not worked, the GP would have recommended circumcision.
