My 5 year old was caught quickly drinking a glass of Prosecco somebody had left on the table at my MIL birthday party!!
It was half a small glass.
This was at 6.30pm... it's now 11pm. He's sleeping soundly but after googling I'm now stressed to the max!!! Do I wake him!??
Would it now be out of his system ?
Argh stress

The legal age for giving children alcohol at me is actually 5 years old.

If he’s sleeping it off he’ll be fine. Half a small glass wouldn’t cause a problem, generally.

Certainly doesn’t need a call to 111.

I wouldn't be too concerned, children in other countries drink wine, although diluted with water, but half a small glass is not a lot. Plenty of water to drink for him and don't worry. It may have not been high alcohol content which would be even better.

I'd call 111.

Not really a medical issue though it is?

Kids drinks prosecco and is fine a few hours later

My daughter took my glass of cider-Scrumpy Jack, 6%, aged 3/4 & hid behind the curtains to drink some!!ShockGrin I was looking for my glass for about 5 minutesHmmHmm(thought I was losing the plotGrin) before seeing DD`s feet poking out under the curtainsGrinWink Not sure how much she drank, but was fine, kept an eye on her though & was ready to take action if neededShockWinkGrin

@Bryjam how do you know it's not a medical issue? Depends on how much the child drank (the op stays it could have been more than half a glass), weight of child, whether there are any other medical issues or if the child is in any other medication.
As it happens I wouldn't have called 111 myself but the OP is panicking so it would probably reassure her to get proper advice rather than asking a load of randoms on Mumsnet.

I apparently got drunk aged 4 while my mum and her friends were celebrating Princess Anne's wedding.
I went around draining everyone's sherry glasses unnoticed for about 2 hours.
They all had a good laugh at my expense (different times) and my mum said I slept well that night.

Really don't worry.

My grandad used to give us copious amounts of whisky to help when we were teething. I’m sure we spent most of our toddlerhoods pissed. We are all still standing ... albeit rather wobbly Grin

Bryjam · 10/02/2019 17:22

how do you know it's not a medical issue?

Because several hours had passed and the child was absolutely fine.

Lozzabell · 10/02/2019 19:16

Thanks all for keeping me from going out of my mind last night. He was obviously completely fine and woke up not even thirsty... so shows how little it was. Note to self - must keep off google !! And lesson learnt to keep an even closer eye at parties!
