Any dentist/dental nurse around to look at this?

My little girl has got a lump on her gum. She says it’s sore and it feels squishy. She thinks it’s been there a few days but she’s only 6 so isn’t particularly reliable when it comes to time.

About 3 years ago she had an accident and her tooth got chipped. We saw the dentist who said as it wasn’t causing her pain all the time, we should leave it be. She has been funny about brushing around this tooth as she says it hurts sometimes.

The lump you can see in the picture is just below the tooth that chipped. I was wondering whether this looks like an abscess?

I will take her to the dentist as soon as possible. However I have just had brain surgery 3 weeks ago and am unable to drive. Our dentist is about 8 miles away and the snow is continuing to fall where we are so inevitably everything will come to a standstill in the morning. I am going to pop into the two practices that are very near our house and see if anyone there could take a quick look. If not, I am going to see the GP who again is virtually on our doorstep who can hopefully help.

I would really appreciate it if anyone here with dental knowledge could help. I fully understand no one can diagnose what it is, but it would be good to get some opinions.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you both. I thought as much. Fingers crossed we can get it sorted tomorrow.

Thank you again Flowers
