5year old fever and leg pain

My 5yo ds woke yesterday and complained of leg pain. He had a bit of a limp. I sent him to school, but he was still limping when I collected him so we went to the gp who checked him over. He had a temp of 38.5, however the leg joint wasnt swollen and he was able to move it in a variety of positions so she suggested wait and see, could be post viral as he recently had tonsillitis. She said if he got worse go back.
This morning he woke with a raging temp and still limping so we went back and saw a different doctor who did a thorough check up. His leg still not swollen and flex’s in all directions without pain. She suggested leg was injury, and the temperature is probably an unrelated virus.
He has not improved throughout the day, and I’m not getting his temp down much below 38.2 with calpol and neurofen. He has started with a streaming nose this afternoon, and his voice is croaky, although throat was fine at the doctors earlier. He has times of being a bit chirpier and ate some watermelon earlier.
My question is I have health anxiety and find making judgments about his health very tricky. My instinct (which is not at all reliable) is telling me to get him seen again tonight, I’m looking for some reasoning as to whether that seems merited, or am I reassurance seeking due to the anxiety?
Thanks!

Hi op, I also have health anxiety so may not be able to help you make a decision that's rational but I can share my experience with you if it helps. My lb started limping one morning randomly last Yr when he was 3, I called the doctor who said if there was no injury he needed to be seen at hospital, so we went to children's A&E, he was diagnosed with irritable hip and we were given information on what to do if it didn't resolve. The A&E doctor did say that if my lb had of had a fever they would have also performed a blood test to rule out other possible diagnosis but because his temp was fine they were happy to just go on the physical examination of him. It resolved in less than a week.

You can Google irritable hip, it's not scary and see if that gives you any reassurance. If it was me in your shoes I would go to A&E tonight based on my own past experience with this and on what the Dr said to me about the fever last time but this is up to you. Xx
