3 month old is breastfed and her tongue has been like this since about 6 weeks.
We’ve tried 4 or 5 courses of nystan and 1 course of daktarin for oral thrush, I have daktarin for my nipples even though I don’t seem to have any symptoms. Have seen no improvement so doctor has stopped all medication since it’s not working. Any ideas other than thrush and/or advice on how to get rid of it? shes only little but it’s so grim!

Isn't it just milk? I bf both of mine and they always got "milk tongue" after feeds. The midwives in hospital told me that's what it was so I never worried about it after that.

Obviously the alternative is oral thrush which you've treated for. Is the health visitor still concerned about it? A friend's little one had oral thrush loads :(

Yeah I’m really not sure. I must have seen 5 different doctors who have all looked in her mouth and diagnosed a mild case of oral thrush- mild since it’s only on her tongue and no where else in her mouth. At the most recent appt one dr said it was definitely oral thrush and needs to get cleared up then asked another (possibly more senior/experienced?) dr for a second opinion who said it’s just milky tongue and that we should stop medicating. It’s a really thick coating and looks like it’s mouldy 🤢

How's her latch when she's feeding? Does she pop on and off and seem to be in discomfort? I'm by no means any sort of expert but if you've got doctors giving you conflicting advice I'd be inclined to not worry if it's not affecting her feeding.

My almost 9 week olds is like this too I'm baffled!

She doesn’t feed too well. She does pop on and off but I thought the letdown might be a bit fast for her as I can hear her gulping loudly. Weight gain hasn’t been great either despite her cluster feeding at nights. Will try and get to a weighing clinic to see what they think. So frustrating!
